the greatest job on earth

Oh come, let us worship and bow down; let us kneel before the Lord, our Maker!  For he is our God and we are the people of his pasture and the sheep of his hand.  Psalm 95: 6-7

It is a beautiful thing to worship and bow before our Maker, the God of the universe. Especially considering that we get to be his people!  That we rest securely in the hand of this all-powerful God.  Hands large enough we are told in verse 4 to hold “the depths of the earth” and  “the heights of the mountains”, who also “formed the dry land.”  How insignificant we seem by comparison, yet we are “the people of his pasture and the sheep of his hand.”  How can we not worship?  How can we not throw ourselves to the feet of such a merciful, loving God?  One who takes for his possession worthless sinners, and makes them beautiful with his love.

Yet we go about our days consumed with thoughts that are far from the God who rescued and holds us.  Why do we continue to live in a worthless way when there is so much joy to be found in being who God created us to be – worshippers of him?  Let’s lay down our worries, our burdens, our futile thoughts, our sins and let’s worship!  Let’s bow low in spirit, in body even, before the God who holds the universe in his hands, and yet loves and cares for us.  What a privilege we have as his children!  There is no greater or more important job on earth.  Please join me today in the beautiful earthly symphony of worship to our God!

The picture above is of the Boston Harbor just blocks from where we live.  Brance and I love to sit there in the evenings some with our girls.  Isn’t God’s creation just magnificent!?  What places make you feel close to him?
