a path to help

Our help is in the name of The Lord, who made heaven and earth.  Psalm 124:8

Just like for the psalmist and God’s chosen people before us, our help comes from one source alone – the name of The Lord.  It does not come from our own strength and intellect, or even our neighbors’, literally or figuratively (i.e. friends, family, blogs, the media etc.).  For who among us can say that we made heaven and earth?!  Our minds and wills pale in comparison to The Lord Almighty’s who made the earth and universe in all their splendid glory by the power of his word.  I think that is a God who can be trusted with the details of his people both “large” and small.  So before  we turn to our own strength or worse yet, worldly wisdom, lets go straight to the one true helper of the redeemed.  Let’s take our cares to the cross of Christ,  where God in his infinite wisdom has made a path for sinful people like us to be helped.  How amazing is that!?!
The picture above is from a recent family hike at Wompatuck State Park.  They have beautiful, shady trails of various lengths.  So  nice for summer hiking with the kids!
