Weekend Reads 3/28

Here are a few links we found interesting or worthwhile this week, and we pass them on to you for reading over the weekend.

Ten Things to Do During Suffering – “We will all suffer, of that there is no doubt. It is strange, then, that we are often unprepared for it. With that in mind, a useful exercise is to summarize Scripture and identify what words of God can guide us when things are hard.”

How Real Is the Book ‘Heaven Is For Real’? – I heartily agree with John Piper’s opinion on this one. This is an audio file you’ll have to listen to, but this episode was especially good in light of popular books (and now movies) like this one.

When Your Child Gets Left Out – Nicole Whitacre offers five blessings a parent can look for when their child is rejected. There is wisdom here not only for parents, but for anyone who is suffering from rejection.

Captain Context – It’s a cartoon folks, you know you want to read it now! “You must learn to always consider context, else be doomed to a life of intellectual dishonesty, never able to have meaningful conversations with anyone who doesn’t agree with you or want exactly what you want.”

And finally, we also share a page from Haddie’s Bible Journal this week. She loves the story of Esther. The caption she included reads,

Esther’s Hebrew name is Hadassah. That is my name.
